Thoro Harris hymns

Thoro Harris lived in Eureka Springs from 1932 until his death in 1955. He wrote hundreds of hymns, many of which are still sung today all over the globe, as these examples show.

The Ark is Coming Up the Road

Joseph Niles and the Consolers, a popular Caribbean gospel group in the 1970s and ’80s, did a catchy reggae version of this one.

The Grumbler

This one showcases Thoro’s sense of humor, with Nigeria’s J Clef Chorale performing. Ohhhhh, they grumble on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday …

All That Thrills My Soul

The Mennonite Hour Men’s Chorus performs this soaring rendition of Thoro’s most popular work.

He’s Coming Soon

In Thoro’s day, it was common to set new words to existing music. Thoro set this hymn, performed here by Australia’s Lobethal Christian Fellowship, to the tune of the Hawaiian hula dance.
